Arizona Driving Record
Arizona is a member of the National Driver Register, a nationwide computer system providing information about problem drivers. When you apply for an Arizona dirver license, the information from your application is checked against the system. If you have any outstanding or unresolved actions in any other state, an Arizona license will not be issued. If you provide false information, your Arizona driver license will be canceled.
Arizona's Safety Belt Law
Each front seat occupant of a motor vehicle subject to the federal motor vehicle safety standards muth either:
- Have the lap and shoulder belt properly adjusted and fastened while the vehicle is in motion, or
- If only a lap belt is installed where the occupant is sitting, the lap belt must be properly adjusted and fastened while the vehicle is in motion.
The operator of a motor vehicle must require all passengers under the age of 16 to comply.
Prohibited Parking
- On a sidewalk
- Infront of a private or public driveway
- Within the boundries of an intersection
- On a crosswalk or within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection
- On any freeway or interstate highway (except for an emergency)
- In any area with signs prohibiting parking
- Within 15 feet of a fire hydrant
- Within 50 feet of a railroad crossing
- On a bridge of within a tunnel
Freeway Restrictions
On the freeway you may not:
- Drive a vehicle carrying fewer than 2 persons, including the driver, in a high occupancy vehicle (HOV) land at the posted times Monday through Friday. A motorist who violates this restriction is subject to a $350 penalty
- Drive over or across any divising section or spearation
- Make a U-Turn
- Change lanes without signaling
- Drive onto the freeway, except on an on-ramp
- Park or stop on the freeway, except in an emergency
